Day 1
  • 10:00 AM

    Arrival in Bujumbura & City Discovery Upon arrival at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, guests will be warmly welcomed by our experienced guide and transferred to their hotel. If time allows, a short city tour will introduce visitors to the main monuments and landmarks of Bujumbura while learning about the history and daily life of Burundi. Overnight Stay at Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika (Mid range)

Day 2
  • 10:00 AM

    Community and Nature. ( Total Driving Time: 6 hours/Day) The day begins with a visit to the Busekera Pygmy Village where guests will meet members of the Batwa community (the minority ethnicity and less privileged community in Burundi) and learn about their traditional lifestyle, music, crafts and culture. Afterwards, the journey continues to the Teza Tea Plantations near Kibira National Park, which is the biggest tea plantations in Burundi with over 600 hectares. Guests will enjoy walking through the beautiful green tea fields and a small nature hike in the surrounding forest, known for its fresh mountain air and biodiversity. The tour continues north to Rwihinda Lake, also known as the Bird Lake, famous for its birdlife and peaceful scenery. Visitors will experience the beauty, peace and incredible sunset at the Lake Overnight Stay at Belan Hotel, Ngozi (Mid range)

    Culture & Waterfalls ( TDT: 3 hours/Day) In the morning, guests visit the famous Gishora Royal Drums Sanctuary in Gitega Province. Recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, Gishora is the most authentic drum experience you can ever get. This important cultural site preserves the legendary Royal Drums of Burundi and visitors can witness an impressive traditional drumming performance and learn about the history of the palace. The journey continues to the National Museum of Gitega which houses important historical artifacts, traditional objects, and cultural collections that explain the history of Burundi. Later in the day, guests explore the beautiful Karera Waterfalls, a spectacular natural site surrounded by lush vegetation where 5 extraordinary waterfalls cascade down the hillside. Day 4

    Source of the Nile & Beach Lake Tanganyika. ( TDT: 4H30/Day) After breakfast, guests visit the Southernmost Source of the Nile River, a fascinating geographical landmark connected to the legendary Nile, as well as a pyramid built in the image of the pyramids in Egypt. The journey then continues toward Rumonge on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, offering beautiful landscapes along the way. Overnight stay at Sunstone Beach Resort (Mid Range)

Day 5

    Beach Relaxation & Return to Bujumbura. ( TDT: 3Hours/Day) The morning is dedicated to relaxation on the beautiful beaches of Lake Tanganyika. Guests can swim, walk along the shore, ride boats or simply enjoy the peaceful scenery. Later, the tour returns to Bujumbura with a short stop at the Livingstone and Stanley monument, a historic site marking the place where two famous explorers have met . In the afternoon, guests visit the Central Market to experience the vibrant local atmosphere and discover traditional products and souvenirs. Overnight Stay at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel (Mid range)

Day 6
  • Rusizi River Boat Cruise & Departure ( TDT: 30minutes/Day) On the final day, guests enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on the Rusizi River in the Rusizi National Park. During the cruise, it is possible to observe hippos, crocodiles and many species of birds in their natural habitat, as well as the famous junction of the river Rusizi and Lake Tanganyika. After the excursion, guests will be transferred to the airport for departure, taking home unforgettable memories of Burundi’s culture, landscapes and warm hospitality.
